Family Warm Mittens Knitting Pattern

Make classic chunky mittens in five sizes, from toddler to adult. The mittens are worked in the round with a shaped thumb gusset, using super bulky yarn and linked technique tutorials.

Sizes: Toddler, Child, Teen, Adult Women’s and Adult Men’s. Finished unstretched circumference: 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 in / 12.7, 15.2, 17.8, 20.3 and 22.9 cm. Choose using the finished measurements.

25–76 yd / 23–70 m of super bulky yarn, such as Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick and Quick. Use 9 mm / US 13 circular needles, 40 in / approximately 102 cm long, for magic loop; double-pointed needles are an option. Gauge: 10 stitches and 15 rounds per 4 in / 10 cm. Also needed: locking marker, two stitch markers, scrap yarn and tapestry needle. Techniques include ribbing, increases, decreases and working a thumb gusset.
