About This Pattern

A soft, snug hat with cat ears formed at the top. Knit from the bottom up, with ribbing, stockinette and small 2×2 cable twists. The pattern gives both flat and in-the-round steps.

Finish with a sewn top or a three-needle bind-off. Photo guides help with cables, finishing and ear details. The snug fit helps the ears stand up.

Size & Fit

Choose by head size; ages are a guide. These are the head measurements the hat is designed to fit, with the pattern’s approximate inch and cm values.

Size Head size (in / cm)
Newborn (0–3 months) 12–13 in / 30–33 cm
Infant (3–6 months) 13–15 in / 33–38 cm
Baby (6–12 months) 16–17 in / 40–43 cm
Toddler (1–3 years) 17–19 in / 43–48 cm
Child 19–20 in / 48–51 cm
Teen 20–21 in / 51–53 cm
Adult 21–22 in / 53–56 cm

This hat has a close fit. Check your gauge before you start; knitting in the round can give a tighter fit than knitting flat.
